excellence in an imagined future, then we will try to support that with more positive recollections from our past.\u00a0 It\u2019s a <strong><em>cool loop.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I read this profound idea in a book called &#8220;The Discovery of Being&#8221; by Rollo May.\u00a0 No, I wasn&#8217;t reading it to my kids at bedtime and I probably should have been out having far more fun, yet that&#8217;s how I roll\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>Rollo\u2019s a clever dude.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He expresses the notion that &#8220;we recall the past selectively, based on the vision of our future.&#8221;\u00a0 I paraphrased this, but that&#8217;s what he said.\u00a0 As soon as we think ahead with good intent we evoke the successful past.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Expect the best for future workouts and you\u2019ll hunt for previous evidence that this is possible.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t have a time machine to pop back and alter the past to change today, but we can imagine a great future and find some support for it from our past.\u00a0 Right now I\u2019m building today\u2019s session by revisiting some great workouts I\u2019ve had.\u00a0 I\u2019m constructing what I\u2019m going to do from awesome memories.\u00a0 This spontaneity comes from repeated practice and you can do it too.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Start thinking Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, who saw what he wanted, and then acted accordingly so that the past supported him day to center;\"><strong><em>\u201cAutonomy, mastery and purpose, day by day\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Just like a gamer that \u201cbecomes\u201d the character, gradually we become the successful protagonist in our own feature film.\u00a0 (Must stop playing Tomb Raider\u2026)\u00a0 It\u2019s vital that we support ourselves with both a compelling future vision and successful patterns in the past.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>A confident person has easily accessible memories of them being good at stuff.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll access these memories as part of their identity when faced with a future challenge.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Here\u2019s the practice:\u00a0 Sit or stand and think of your upcoming workout, being open to images, sensations and emotion.\u00a0 Recall a previous workout that felt good and allow the confidence and accomplishment of that to fill in the future workout.\u00a0 Keep doing this until you\u2019re ready to go!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Make a strong mental note of good performances and build a storehouse of them.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img
